DEAR FRIENDS;

There are many choices to be made politically in the next few months. I would hope all of us would give much thought, prayer and research into the issues of finances, health, military use, educational needs, immigration reform and so much more.

And after we do, to make choices we can be proud of.  For me, my choice for this election will be President Obama to continue in his efforts to lead the country in a positive, prosperous and peaceful direction.

NO CHILD SHOULD EVER ...

No child should ever be hit, yelled at, jerked, shoved, called names, spanked, beat, threatened with bodily harm, chained, belt whipped, put in dark spaces, called a liar, chocked, sexually touched, sexually assaulted, sexually photographed, made an emotional sexual spouse surrogate, made to keep secrets, drugged, made a witness to verbal and physical violence, kept a prisoner, burned, cut, boiled, drowned, humiliated, starved, suffocated, deprived, made to endure insane punishments - all of the above and more are done to children all over the world every hour and everyday.

Sandusky, for once we got it right ... guilty.

STOCK MARKET PROTEST

Dear Friends,

According to Doctor David Viscott the primary reason for all suicide is "I am not perfect, therefore I do not have a right to exist." I think this message is rampant in the world today. I do believe everyone has a right to choose their own destiny. But also must be responsible for what the choices may require ... read SIDDHARTHA BY HERMAN HESSE...the search for meaning and purpose.

So should everyone justify their existence by working a mainstream job, get married, have two or more kids go to Church on Sundays and live in the burbs and only vote for TEA PARTY CANDIDATES. What about the creative, the artistic, the dreamer, the philosopher, the truth seeker, the prayer giver?

There is perfection in all choices of lifestyles and all choices have the right to exist, the right to love and be loved, the right to express, the right to choose their own destiny, and the right to the pleasures and beauty of life. Balance people, balance!

SNOWBIRDS GOING SOUTH FOR THE WINTER

Dear Friends,

For many across the United States, "going south for the winter" are plans creeping each day into and onto calendars and organizers. Or people "Snowbirds" begin their trek to warmer, western states like California, Arizona and New Mexico. But since I am already in Southern California, I will not be a "Snowbird".

However autumn and winter are on their way and I can tell by cooler nights and shorter days it is a wonderful season for adventure. This is a great time for locals like myself to go to amusement parks, places like Lego Land, Sea World, Disneyland, Universal Studios. September and October offer perfect opportunities to enjoy the Southern California "fun in the sun but not necessarily on the beach" lifestyles.

So I am packing up our backpacks for day trips a.s.a.p and choosing one of the many "cool" places to go to each weekend for the next two months. Taking the camera too. Great time for some photo shoots. I LOVE MY LIFE!

SEEING JANE FONDA

Dear Friends,

We recently heard the major celebrity Jane Fonda speak at a book store in the Los Angeles area. I had seen and heard her speak before several years ago. Both time she really impresses me as being a very genuine person as well as a talented writer. I bought her new book PRIME TIME and it too is impressive.

In PRIME TIME as well as in her speaking, Ms. Fonda clearly makes her point about how people at any age can truly choose to be totally involved in their life as it unfolds.

I did not realize until I heard her speaking about herself and her book that she has had critical medical issues with hip, knee, eyesight and even cancer. She also lost her mother to suicide at the age of twelve which she blamed herself for even as she grew older. She went through several intense marriages and relationships and even to this day is still hated by groups because of her political expressions during the Viet Nam War. Her career has had it's blazing and baffling moments and she has been criticized and made fun of for her exercise video creations.

This is a complex vision of female power pretty hard to understand except when you consider her enormous talent as an actress, her lasting and classic beauty, and her charismatic ability to speak to a room of hundreds of people as though she is speaking only to you. I like Jane Fonda and I like her new book. She has learned how to live the good life and even better how to share it.

LITTLE GIRL LOST

Dear Friends,

What is enough?

When people are personally involved in sexual abuse, or children are being murdered, or truths are being hidden, is it enough to say,"This is behind us and Karma will take care of things?"

 Karma took care of Hitler ... but six million people died ... I know there is a better way. All of us caring & staying involved even when the "drama" is over is everyone's business of life and loving.

I think we need to continue asking, why did this little two year old girl end up lost and dead? And what kind of environment did this mother come from that she willing became a part of all the tragic events? How long had she been the little girl lost and dead?

Where is the real truth, who knows it and who is responsible. We have an explanation but we should never excuse whatever acts led to to the death of even one child. Justice never comes from lies. Neither does forgiveness.

GRIEVING CHILDREN

Dear Friends,

All over the world today are the heartaches of grieving children experiencing extreme loss. Their losses are graphic, painful and lasting. Some have lost parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, friends, pets, extended family members. Some have lost homes, schools, libraries, favorite hang-outs, pools for swimming and gyms for sports, plus playgrounds, music and instruments, toys, dolls, computers, video games, movie theaters, museums, biking, hiking and skiing, safe waterways and highways, birthday parties, graduations, dancing, and even jobs.

Mostly because of floods, fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, mudslides, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other earth/nature disasters and some "people made"... oil spills, explosions, bombings, war, shootings, economics, broken homes, abusive parents - children everywhere are trying to cope everyday with losses beyond their control. For them psychologically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, creatively - all these losses represent the death of their dreams as children. Their lives have been literally "put on hold." Their grief, I am sure, nearly untouchable.

Grieving children need special care, special reaching-out, special information for them to "go on." The saying, "Children are resilient. They can recover. Children are strong, they will get over it." For the most part, I do not think this statement is true. Illness, post traumatic stress syndrome, suicide, drug and alcohol addictions, behavioral extremes, all prove differently. We adults must get involved in learning, teaching, and sharing skills for children to go beyond grieving and into living again.

Find a tool, a talent, a skill that you have and find a way to share your knowledge to change this world of childhood grief. So many organizations are available and will use your time, energy and money to bring light to the darkness of grieving. Churches and spiritual centers everywhere, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the United Nations Children's Fund, and even celebrities and their charities will "hook you up" and make an "earth angel" out of you giving services where so desperately needed. And if you can not find an outlet for your particular type of giving, than start your own.
