MOVIE REVIEW: LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS

Dear Friends,

If you are looking for a movie to get away from the stresses of life and take the kids to see, look for something else besides LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS. Directed by Zack Snyder with stars Abbie Cornish, Essie Davis, Joel Edgerton, this movie is about Soren, a young barn owl, who is kidnapped by other owls of St. Aggie's  and forced into being brainwashed into becoming soldiers.

I think it is us, the "public" who is being brainedwashed into believing if a movie is being advertised for the "whole family" and it is animated and 3D, then this is going to be entertainment for all children and even the child at heart.

Except for a few brief moments this movie is totally violent and dark. It would be like seeing STAR WARS with Darth Vader in your face every minute. Three quarters through this movie (thinking maybe it would get better) I walked out. If a movie rating is PG, read the reviews first and take notice.

Guard your child's own spirit and imagination and spare them from this once again Hollywood presentation where beating up, killing, striking, enslaving, betraying and using brute force is the only way to resolve the eternal struggle between good and evil.

Take your child to the park, the beach, the library, the museum, miniature golf, bike riding, boating, fishing, etc./etc and show your family you cherish their souls and spirits plus their minds and bodies. Violence is not about entertaining, it is about destruction, fear, anger, rage, pain and hopelessness.

Be creative. Help your family to develop interesting, adventurous, exciting, life giving and joyful experiences for those moments of pleasure and entertainment to restore, relax, and renew the wonderful cycles of living.

I know next time I will be more discerning.

What do you think?
